Graham Sutherland’s
the pastry academy
Do you want to make the most amazing patisserie and chocolate delights?
Have fun, impress your friends and join us at The Pastry Academy. Learn the art of patisserie-making from one of Europe’s top patisserie and chocolate chefs, Graham Sutherland.
Each evening class will focus on different skills ranging from modern chocolate Pralines to easy to make macaroons – there’s a class for everyone, for every culinary ability.
Born in Blairgowrie, Graham grew up at Crathes Castle on Royal Deeside, attending Banchory Academy. His mother was an excellent chef, his father a landscape gardener and grandfather, head game-keeper and advisor to the Queen Mother. Graham was surrounded from a young age by cooking – and the best of fresh produce, giving him an appreciation of good cuisine. Under this influence he found his way to the kitchen of Invery House, which was considered THE place to eat, under the tutelage of Stewart Spence. His dream of becoming a chef began.
Chef Graham Sutherland has honed his patisserie skills throughout Europe, working at top venues including The Savoy, the Mandarin Oriental in Munchen to 2 Michelin Star restaurant hotels in the Swiss mountains. Having spent 6 years at the César Ritz Culinary School of Arts in Lucerne as Instructor of Pastry and Chocolate Arts.
Now back home at Inchmarlo Golf Centre (Banchory), Graham has established one of Aberdeenshire’s top patisserie and Scottish pastry and coffee shop – Sutherland’s Pastry and Coffee Shop as well as setting up one of the North East of Scotland’s first patisserie and chocolate school – The Pastry Academy.
It is now Chef’s ambition to inspire and cultivate Scotland’s budding pastry chefs.
